Geology & Geophysics
DOS have come across interesting and possibly unusual geological formations whilst surveying in very deep water over the years. Our low frequency sonar covers a large area of seafloor (3000m across range) and allows us to get a good overview of the terrain over which we are “flying”.
We include here some images of some which we found interesting, along with their general location and depth.
We are conscious that most of the areas in which we work have not been mapped in detail and we would be happy to share data with the scientific community to assist in forming a better understanding of the sea floor in these great depths.
